| My research focuses on
3 major areas: stress and coping in
families and caregivers of individuals with
disabilities, community integration and quality
of life of individuals with disabilities
and attitudes toward persons with disabilities. Within
these areas, I focus primarily on two disability
groups: developmental disability and acquired
brain injury as well as issues related to
aging and disability. Many of my research
endeavours have been informed by problems
arising in my clinical practice and through
collaboration with agencies, families and
individuals with disabilities. Currently,
I am a principal investigator in a SSHRC
funded Community-University Research Alliance
(CURA) to investigate the impact of stigma,
family stress and coping, and client related
variables on the community integration of
students with disabilities in transition
at the preschool, elementary school and secondary
school levels. |
